A holiday in Bruges

Bruges, Venice of the North, a city who's entire innercity was placed in the UNESCO world heritage list. Bruges has at least a thousend faces and has a history richer than any other city. Bruges is the city where modern trade and modern financial markets were founded.

But although Bruges has known a turbulent history it never gave away its charm and peace. Wondering through the alleys or enjoying an evening walk in the "lake of love" park, the experience of Bruges is incredible. One should stay in this city for multiple days so that every aspect of Bruges can be visited.
The hotels in Bruges surely will warmly welcome you. The choice of hotels in the innercity is hugh. Mostly it are small family hotels with a lot of charm and a fantastic breakfast buffet. Many times the smallest hotels offer the greatest luxury.

Bruges is a city which should be visited during wintertime, the wonderful decoration is something Bruges can be very proud for. Every year there is a skating ground on the Main market square in the shadows of the old belfry.

Restaurants in Bruges are omnipresent. Most of the restaurants will serve you a delicious meal at a correct price ( watch out for pricing on the main market square ) Some restaurants you may consider during your stay in Bruges are restaurant aneth, restaurant curiosa and restaurant arthies. You will not be disappointed.

Bruges is in comparison to Brussels much quieter and more charming to visit, and to Antwerp it just hold a lot more history. Many guests in Bruges start from a hotel in Brussels or a hotel in Antwerp to visit Belgium but they couldn't be more wrong. The European capital Brussels has its charms but is not comparable to Bruges.

As the choice of hotels in Bruges is quite large we will highlight a few here in this blog as i personally visited these hotels. Most hotels in Bruges are easy to book online.

I hope you have a very pleasant stay in the world's capital of the 13th century: Bruges.

Belgium: a country to visit.
